Lindsay Lou found a project in the credits of familiar bluegrass songs: how many standards had women behind them? In "Lindsay Lou - Full Session | Paste," she explains how that discovery inspired Bluegrass Women, bringing the songs and female musicians together.

Recorded at East Iris Studios during Nashville's AMERICANAFEST in September, the session was Paste Magazine's most-watched new upload this week, reaching about 8,400 views. Lou opens with "Jubilee," learned from Jean Ritchie, moves to Kate Wolf's "Like a River," then switches to banjo for "Wagoner's Lad," drawing on Doc Watson's version. Mandolin, fiddle, bass and another banjo surround her, with harmonies that have viewers discussing the ensemble singing. One listener imagines a Sheryl Crow collaboration; another brings up Tyler Childers's interpretation of "Jubilee."

The six-upload week also paired Ramsey Thornton's full session with a "Tony's Song" excerpt. Dakota McDaniel joins him on guitar, with "State Fair" and "I Wish I Had a Bike in Portland" completing the set.

Della Mae supplies the freshest momentum. Its Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival session, recorded in July, is currently the channel's busiest upload by daily views, with the separate "Magic Accident" performance also moving. A Michael Cleveland and Jason Carter festival clip sits between them in daily viewing.

Paste added roughly 1.6 million views and gained subscribers over the week, although its current daily viewing is less than half its usual level. Nearby music channels ShaniaTwainVEVO and alanjacksonVEVO had larger weekly audiences. For Paste's new sessions, though, the thread is particularly clear: women playing roots music, and giving the people behind the songs their due.
