"I promised you nothing": Christopher Lee's Dracula dismisses Johnny
Movieclips' latest Hammer horror excerpt pairs a vampire's cold rebuke with Van Helsing's discovery, drawing an unusually fast start.

Johnny calls him master, but Christopher Lee's Dracula is in no mood to negotiate. His accomplice has brought him the wrong woman, and when Johnny protests that he was promised something, the count's answer is blunt: "I promised you nothing."
That exchange sits at the center of Movieclips' newly posted excerpt, "Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972) - Lovemaking and Bloodletting (5/8) | Movieclips." The clip has drawn about 116,000 views in 11 hours, far above the channel's usual pace for a Short. This is a scene from the Hammer film, not a new production starring Lee.
The appeal isn't only in the fangs. Peter Cushing's Van Helsing decodes the name ALUCARD at his desk, while the action cuts between Johnny's captive, Gaynor, played by Marsha Hunt, and Stephanie Beacham's restless Jessica. Lee emerges from the shadows and makes obedience sound considerably more important than gratitude.
The film brought Hammer's familiar Dracula-Van Helsing pairing into contemporary London, with hippies responsible for the count's return. Lee and Cushing had first faced each other in those roles in Hammer's 1958 Dracula.
Other scenes from the same film are also drawing unusually strong starts on Movieclips, including Caroline Munro's sacrifice sequence and Jessica's encounter at the Cavern. Here, one viewer finds a more practical concern in the vampire attack: the count's table manners, and whether special cutlery might help.
