DJI goggle killer? XREAL 1 Pro+ 3D AR Glasses
Things we can learn from the video
Press to jump
- 3:55The Mini 5 Pro setup connects the glasses to a DJI RC 2 controller through USB-C DisplayPort.
- 5:35Pinned-screen and follow modes offer different ways to view the flight feed while moving his head.
- 7:37The Avata 2 connection routes the goggles' feed through the DJI Fly phone app to the glasses.
- 9:09Danny reports minimal latency and minor frame drops during an Avata 2 manual-mode flight.
- 12:32Back at his laptop, he converts recorded 2D drone footage into a 3D viewing experience.
A parked truck becomes Danny Mcgee's test station as he plugs XREAL AR glasses into a DJI RC 2 controller and takes the Mini 5 Pro into the air. The appeal is practical: he can look down at the controls, change settings, then look up at the flight feed.
"DJI goggle killer? XREAL 1 Pro+ 3D AR Glasses" was the most-watched of his two new uploads, reaching roughly 44,000 views. XREAL supplied the glasses for the review, which follows his earlier RayNeo experiment. He tests a screen that stays pinned in place and a mode that follows his head movements, before trying a more roundabout connection with the Avata 2: goggles to phone, then phone to glasses.
That second setup brings minor frame drops, even though Danny describes the latency as minimal. Viewers are picking apart precisely that distinction. Some want a simpler DJI receiver; others question the Avata feed's stutters or ask about reflections in bright sunlight. One viewer describes using AR glasses at the beach when a controller screen becomes difficult to see.
The review is also his busiest video right now. Behind it, October's SOUTHBOUND film through Colombia, Ecuador and Peru continues drawing viewers to the motorcycle journey he made with Jonah Levine, featuring navigator and mechanic Jesse Evers. His other new upload offers a brief test of Antigravity's RC setup.
The channel added about 1,000 subscribers over the week, with today's viewing above its usual daily level. Among nearby travel channels, Katie Roams had a particularly substantial week and World Wild Hearts drew a larger weekly audience. Danny's own week bridges his two familiar worlds: equipment for getting the shot, and the long ride worth filming.

I use the Ray-Neo Air Pros when flying at the beach and it’s been a game changer because the RC2 screen can be difficult to see in really bright sunlight
@delrayguy399See it on YouTubeAm so amazed by the fact that you can pilot your drone while sitting inside a car. Thought the metal frame would interfere with the drone signal 🤔.
@OliverGeistbeckSee it on YouTubecan you change the video feed from the RC2 to the 3D mode while flying ? that would be crazy lol , how are the reflections inside the glasses , I know my Rayneo Glasses suffer badly from reflections inside the glasses on bright days . thanks

Cool concept for the mini, but the latency on the avata makes me not want to fly that at all, I’ll stick with goggles.
