Chris Howett has tested unusual hotels and crossed Europe in a sleep pod, but his latest adventure asks him to match someone else's pace. In Belgium, he joins Karl Bushby for three days on foot, with hills, rain and a heavily loaded cart for company.
"The First Man to Walk Around the World (28 Year Walk)" is a longer, interview-led departure from Chris's usual videos. Bushby, a former British paratrooper, traces an expedition that began with Army banter and grew into a decades-long commitment. "It was kind of like a bad bet in the bar," he tells Chris.
The extraordinary crossings are there, including the frozen Bering Strait and a swim across the Caspian Sea. So are the everyday mechanics: buying supermarket salmon in Europe, replacing paper maps with smartphone navigation, and pushing the cart he calls "The Beast" up another incline. Chris camps along the way and feels the physical cost of keeping up. The video includes a paid eSIM sponsorship segment.
Its final stretch jumps forward to Bushby's arrival in Hull, where he embraces his mother amid a welcoming crowd. Viewers are discussing the sheer length of the commitment, with some recalling how young they were when they first heard about his journey. Chris calls the upload "completely different" in his description and asks whether viewers want more of this kind of film.
The week's sole new video has reached roughly 83,000 views. Across the channel, subscribers grew by about 2,000, although daily viewing is running below its usual pace. Chris nevertheless had the largest weekly view gain among the nearby travel channels; em and SteveMarsh also drew substantial audiences.
The older hotel adventures remain the strongest daily draws: "I Tried a Secret Billionaire Hotel" and "I Tested Earth's Deadliest Hotels" are both bringing in more daily views than the Bushby documentary.
