Jim Zim gives a long sailing day a bow-mounted camera and lets the rivers supply the scenery. His only new upload this week, "Episode 6: Cruising To Sault Ste Marie Michigan With American Cruise Lines", follows American Patriot north from Detroit before swapping the cruise ship for a smaller boat through the Soo Locks.
The journey takes 28 hours, with drone views of Port Huron's Blue Water Bridges, an afternoon of cooking demonstrations and music trivia, and clear skies on the St. Marys River the following morning. At Sault Ste. Marie, Jim boards a tour boat through the MacArthur Lock, then uses aerial footage to show the neighboring locks and the enormous construction project beside them. A visit to Museum Ship Valley Camp takes the episode inside the working history of Great Lakes shipping.
The upload has reached roughly 6,400 views. In the comments, viewers pick out the videography, including cars passing each other on the power-plant bridge. Others ask how rough the crossing was, and one makes a request familiar to anyone who knows Jim's other passion: more model trains.
Across the channel, subscribers were unchanged this week, while today's viewing is about a third above its usual daily pace. Among nearby travel channels, Jess & Jake had a much larger viewing week; Jim's weekly total was the smallest in that group.
His Toledo episode currently draws the most daily views of the highlighted uploads, followed by this Sault Ste. Marie visit. The older Ohio River highlights film also keeps adding views, with its bow-camera time lapses offering another way to enjoy a long river journey without spending the whole day aboard.
