The garage opens before the railroad does. In Massee Media's "The Livi B. Railroad - Tiny backyard railroad around a house!", Evan Bautista carries removable track sections across the driveway and bolts them together before Butter Pig can come out to work.
That preparation gives this miniature railway its particular charm. Some track stays in place; some goes down for each operating session. Bautista built the flat cars, while Ken Roeh built the short-wheelbase steam locomotive that negotiates the tight curves around the house. A propane tank goes aboard, distilled water fills the boiler, and the machinery gets its oil before passengers settle onto the benches. The ride takes in the lawn, side walkway and backyard patio, a whole excursion without leaving home.
Massee Media posted nothing new this week, but the backyard film is its busiest video right now, drawing roughly 3,000 views a day. The channel collected about 127,000 views over the week, with its subscriber count unchanged. Today's viewing is above its usual daily level, though this remains a smaller viewing week than those of its nearby machinery-channel peers. Mr Hewes is having a particularly busy one.
Elsewhere in the archive, "Whistle Queen" continues the much larger-scale climb from Siliguri to Kurseong, with re-railing, field repairs and track sanding along the way. Gary Beatty's Festa Fiesta offers another change of scale: miniature narrow-gauge layouts gathered in Riverside. For Massee Media, the distance between a Himalayan freight journey and a loop around someone's patio is surprisingly short.
