Season five is here. Make Some Noise posted a single video over the week, a trailer for its premiere on Dropout, and it passed 200,000 views in about eleven hours.

The show is Dropout's improv game show: host Sam Reich hands three comedians silly prompts, and they compete for the Golden Ear. For the new season he brings back the lineup the description calls the Noise Boys: Brennan Lee Mulligan, Zac Oyama and Josh Ruben. Mulligan is best known as the Dungeon Master of Dimension 20, Dropout's tabletop series, and the comments suggest he could not leave the storytelling at home. Many viewers are talking about how he walks in with a quick lesson on the Hero's Journey before the comedy has properly started. Some argue it was really a five-act structure or Dan Harmon's story circle, and others joke about the hero who keeps refusing the call. Josh Ruben's entrance gets its own share of praise, and a few sharp-eyed fans say they had never noticed the signatures on the inside of the door.

Around the trailer, the channel had a slower week than usual, though it still added about 4,000 subscribers. Its summer shorts keep moving: a group rant about why men don't get flowers and a contest for the best Sam Reich impression have each passed three and a half million views. Among similar comedy channels, Kountry Wayne and Biggy Bailey drew the most views this week, with Make Some Noise right behind them.

What viewers say

  • Stories are easy, dude 😂 Leave it to Brennan to teach a quick lesson on the Hero's Journey in the first few minutes of a comedy show.
  • Would’ve been hilarious if Brennan just wasn’t there for the rest of the episode because his journey ended.😅
  • I never noticed the writing on the other side of the door until now!
