Warsaw, solo: Jack's map video draws two-thirds of a million
The description promises a solo exploration of the Polish capital, and the four-day-old upload is carrying a channel running well above its usual daily views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Maps I haven't thought about before
Among the explainer and education channels nearest JackSucksAtGeography in size, only YaleCourses has more subscribers, and the busier stretches belong to Invicta, Answer in Progress and The People Profiles, all drawing well above their normal pace. Jack is in that busy company too, running at roughly half again his usual daily views.
Most of that comes from one video. "Maps I haven't thought about before" went up on September 27 and has passed 660,000 views, with its description pointing viewers toward Jack wandering Warsaw on his own. It is the format the channel's about text sums up as entertaining and sometimes educational: a stack of unfamiliar maps and Jack working out what they say about a place.
The other two uploads were smaller affairs. "This Picture BLOWS MY MIND 🤯" and "Geoguessr Pro VS Normal Player" are both short and both still in the low tens of thousands. The second leans on the game that has run through the channel for years, the one where you are dropped into a random street view and guess where on Earth you are.
Three uploads, then, and the map video is the one doing nearly all the work. For a channel built by a man who taught himself every country and flag on camera, that seems about right.
