A liar's paradox in multiple choice passes a million for Presh Talwalkar

No new uploads went up, and a 56-day-old question about its own answers is the busiest thing on the 3.28-million-subscriber puzzle channel.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The Multiple Choice Question That Breaks Your BrainThe Multiple Choice Question That Breaks Your Brain

Nothing new this week. The puzzles on hand kept working anyway.

"The Multiple Choice Question That Breaks Your Brain" has passed a million views eight weeks after it went up, and it is still drawing around twenty thousand a day. The description says the question is making the rounds again, and the notes behind it sketch the family tree: the barber paradox, the Bhartrihari paradox, Socrates and the trouble with statements that point back at themselves. It is the classic trap of a question that asks how likely you are to pick the right answer from a list, where every choice seems to undo itself.

Two younger videos follow at a gentler pace. "Can You Solve This Quant Interview Question?" is a probability problem tied to Jane Street Capital interviews and to Frederick Mosteller's book Fifty Challenging Problems in Probability. Presh Talwalkar thanks two members in the description for spotting that his first version left out a detail about consecutive wins. The newest of the three, "A Geometry Puzzle That Looks Impossible At First," asks for the area of a square cut into eight rectangles of equal area, one of them 8 cm tall.

Among the explainer and education channels nearest this one in size, BradyYourTutor and Economics Explained are each running at roughly twice their usual daily pace, while Wendover Productions and Extra History are a little quieter than normal.
