Santa Schwarzenegger and a Reacher heist crew lift IGN Movie Trailers

Prime Video's first look at The Man With The Bag drew about fifteen times a usual first day, and its comments are mostly memories of Jingle All the Way.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is playing Santa Claus, and that is apparently all many people needed to hear. The teaser for The Man With The Bag passed 81,000 views in its first fourteen hours on IGN Movie Trailers, roughly fifteen times what a new upload there usually gathers in a whole first day. The rest of the channel's latest batch stayed in the low thousands, including a second Sense and Sensibility trailer and three clips from Verity, the Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson thriller.

The film is billed as a holiday heist. A rogue elf with a grudge, played by Awkwafina, steals Santa's red bag. With Christmas close, Santa turns to a thief from his Naughty List, played by Alan Ritchson, who assembles a crew of criminally skilled misfits, with some help from elves and reindeer. Ken Jeong, Jane Krakowski, Liza Koshy and Kyle Mooney are also in the cast. Adam Shankman, who made the 2007 Hairspray, directs, and the film arrives on Prime Video on December 2.

Ritchson is a familiar face on that service as the star of Reacher, and he is also one of the producers here. The pairing of the Terminator and Reacher is a running theme under the trailer.

The bigger theme is 1996. Schwarzenegger's last Christmas outing was Jingle All the Way, and viewers keep pointing out that the father who once brawled with a gang of Santas has now become one. The most-liked comment demands that a certain cookie line from that film come back. A few others hold the new film up against Red One, Amazon's 2024 Santa adventure with J.K. Simmons in the suit.
