A week after the USA-Peru goals led House of Highlights, as we reported here, the United States and Mexico have done it again. The clips channel's package of every goal from their October 3 friendly reached nearly 1.5 million views in its first 24 hours. A typical new upload there starts closer to 23,000.

The highlights themselves are only half of what people are discussing. The most liked comments are about the broadcast: many viewers say the TV coverage cut away from the third American goal because it was busy naming its moment of the match, with around a quarter of an hour still to play. The video lets them see what they say they missed live.

The other half is Mexico's defending. Several viewers single out the goalkeeping, and one points to a moment near the 13-minute mark where a defender backs away from a ball he should have won. On the American side, the talk is about a slick first international goal, a sharp save from the US keeper, a fourth goal that slipped away on a missed pass, and Giovanni Reyna's form across the international window. A visitor from Croatia even stopped by to say how much they enjoy watching the young US team.

The friendly had company. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo teaming up in the Miami Heat's preseason opener, a gamer-style loading screen filmed in a bathroom, Ben Whittaker's fight with Conor Wallace and a LaMelo Ball clip all started several times faster than usual. The channel as a whole is having a slightly slower day than its norm, which makes one soccer friendly carrying this much of it stand out even more.

  • Bad enough that TNT completely missed the third goal, but all because they were announcing the “moment of the match” even though the match wasn’t even over yet.
