Brandon B's Sherlock audition, slow out of the gate, jumps to a quarter million in a day
Nine days after it was posted, the paid-partnership skit is suddenly carrying the channel, though its comment section has barely stirred.
Why this story? The video is running at 247,477 views a day, 266 times its usual pace (931).
My audition for the next Sherlock movie…#ad
Whatever became of Brandon B's Sherlock audition, the one that started so gently? It woke up. Posted on September 23, the short drew about a quarter of a million views in a single day, more than 250 times its usual pace. Last week his 'outfit details' video was outrunning it, as we reported here. Now the audition is the one doing the work.
The joke is in the title. Brandon B, whose channel bio calls him a 'Hogwarts Dropout,' puts himself up for a role as the famous detective, in the kind of visual-effects skit his channel is built on. The video is marked as an ad, and the description says an AI tool helped him crack the case. His tags point to the tradition he works in: Zach King's name sits among them, along with editing software and the CGI that does the trickery.
The surge has not reached the comment box. Not one new comment arrived alongside all those views, and the handful already there are short. A couple of viewers question leaning on AI for creativity, and another wonders how the channel's comment sections got so quiet.
That quiet runs through the rest of the channel too. Its overall daily views are well below their usual level, so this one video is a large share of its day. His newer 'How it looks vs How it feels' and the three-part 'Abducted for human trials' series from mid-September sit far behind. Maybe the people arriving now came for the trick rather than the conversation.

The numbers
The figures show a nine-day-old video suddenly moving far faster than it ever has, on a channel that is otherwise in a calmer stretch.
