Godzilla's growing channel pairs Minus Zero with Chibi comedy
TOHO's official North American channel adds 165,000 subscribers in a week while mixing theatrical promotion with everyday kaiju animation.
Why this story? The channel went from 625,000 to 790,000 subscribers this week.
The cutest kaiju takeover yet. ☺️
Godzilla's big-screen destruction shares a channel with a rather smaller occasion: a convenience-store grand opening. "Chibi Godzilla Raids Again // S4E14: Convenilla Grand Opening" sits among the latest uploads on GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO, alongside the push for Godzilla Minus Zero.
That mix accompanies another substantial subscriber gain. The channel added about 165,000 subscribers over the past week, bringing it to 790,000. It has grown by more than a quarter in that stretch, although its daily views are only slightly above their usual pace.
Minus Zero remains prominent in the channel's trailer library: its IMAX trailer is already the second-most-watched regular upload, behind the second trailer for Godzilla Minus One. The latest promotional posts emphasize seeing the film in theaters.
Chibi offers a different scale of monster life. Directed by Taketo Shinkai, the anime follows the kaiju's laid-back daily routines rather than a national catastrophe. Jun Fukuyama voices Chibi Godzilla, whose ambition, according to the series description, is to become a great kaiju like his father.
