A black cat delays departure on Universal Pictures At Home

Leap Year's roadside superstition joins M3GAN previews, Filipino folklore and music-documentary excerpts in a fifteen-upload week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Nobody agrees on the omen. In Universal Pictures At Home's "Leap Year | A Black Cat", Amy Adams's traveler is stopped from getting into her car because a cat has crossed her path. One man warns of years of bad luck; another insists the rule concerns a magpie. Soon they are arguing over the length of the sentence rather than helping her leave.

That small comic detour was the week's most watched new upload, reaching roughly 20,000 views. It was a varied week even by a studio library channel's standards: Julia Roberts appeared in "Erin Brockovich | Two Wrong Feet In Ugly Shoes", while "Forgotten Island | A Mysterious Portal To A New World | Preview" introduced friends Jo and Raissa, whose journey to a mythical island draws on stories from their Filipino families. Getting home means protecting their memories of each other.

Elsewhere, an extended-preview collection paired M3GAN's first outing with M3GAN 2.0, and The Defiant Ones supplied excerpts involving Ice Cube, Dr. Dre's world and Jimmy Iovine's work with Tom Petty.

The strongest daily momentum, though, belongs to the older Dracula Untold preview featuring Charles Dance. The Erin Brockovich clip is also gathering views faster than the black-cat scene now.

The channel added around 10,000 subscribers over the week, with daily viewing modestly above its usual level. Among nearby studio channels, Warner Bros. Entertainment is enjoying a larger-than-usual daily audience, while DC is close to its normal rhythm. Universal's own week found room for both a bloodthirsty bargain and a journey stalled by a disputed bird.
