Things we can learn from the video

  1. 0:30Geekdom101 wanted the episode to incorporate Yamoshi's backstory, rather than leave him unmentioned.
  2. 1:25He argues that Beerus and Oolong's extended rock-paper-scissors sequence makes the first half skippable.
  3. 3:42Shenron's appearance includes new CGI animation and telepathic mouth movement.
  4. 5:32He finds the Saiyan ritual's artwork more consistently on-model than in the earlier television version.
  5. 6:01Videl's pregnancy reveal carries less emotional weight for him than it did in Battle of Gods.
  6. 9:01He recalls the initial reaction to Super Saiyan God's design in 2013 and how perceptions changed.

Goku gets his red-haired transformation, but Geekdom101 wants more than a familiar ritual. His most-watched upload of the week, "Super Saiyan God is Born (And NOTHING Else)! Dragon Ball Super Beerus Episode 4 Review", has reached roughly 39,000 views with a decidedly mixed assessment of "God of the Saiyans."

Presented as an audio review over an image of Goku, it finds improvements in the ritual's artwork compared with the earlier television version. Yet the extended Beerus-Oolong rock-paper-scissors sequence tests his patience, and he misses the emotional weight of Videl's pregnancy reveal in Battle of Gods. "The definitive way of watching Battle of Gods is going to end up being the movie," he says.

The comments offer specific counterpoints. Viewers discuss the transformation's cinematic timing, Shenron's entrance and the appeal of asking the wish-granting dragon for information. Others weigh the more serious tone against lost comedy and character moments. The ritual gives this audience plenty to debate even when Geekdom101 finds the episode thin.

He follows that review with a Super Saiyan God evolution breakdown, while World King Kanji returns for a broader discussion of what the Beerus series has got right and wrong. A Vegeta transformation upload also draws substantial viewing. The strongest current momentum, though, belongs to "The God Heirarchy of Dragon Ball Super Breakdown: Gods of Creation & More", which brings Daima's Rymus story into an exploration of divine lore.

Subscribers stayed unchanged over the week, and daily viewing is close to the channel's usual level. Nearby in the anime and tabletop group, MasakoX is drawing more than twice its typical daily views. Geekdom101's week is steadier, with the conversation moving from whether Goku's transformation works to how Dragon Ball's gods fit together.

What viewers say

  • That transformation sequence was beautiful. Cinematic timing was great on this version.

  • I love the use of shenron here
He's only ever been used to either manifest something or move something
Using him to gather INFORMATION is game changing
I can only imagine the VAST wealth of knowledge an eternal wish granting entity would hold

  • While I agree the movie version is still the definitive version of Battle of Gods, I think the Goku vs Beerus fight on King Kai's planet is better than the movie IMO.

  • The entrance of shenron was the entrance he always needed and deserved and the ritual was redone amazingly

  • I really like the serious tone this version has. Really great direction even if the sacrifice is some the original comedy is removed. It's quite a change of pace making this arc super serious compared to really lighthearted with the funny clown music to upbeat the mood.

Really looking forward to Ssg Goku vs Beerus and how they handle it because I loved the serious aspects of that fight in Dbs that were there.

  • One thing that I personally liked was how Roshi said that Vegeta has a righteous heart now and they did a flashback to some clips of the vacation trip.

  • They really could've included the Vegeta stuff from the original movie in the last episode for character development and skipped the rock-paper-scissors stuff for this episode.

  • There was a cool new cut of Oolong vs Beerus in there that I thought was neat. Plus the transformation was fire

  • Oolong Scene was funny and i love every minute of it
