Trump stands by Iran war: "I would have done nothing different"
FOX 11 Los Angeles's widely watched report sets Vance's explanation for Republican losses alongside competing diagnoses from Beshear and DeSantis.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 291,488 views a day, 24 times a normal first day on this channel (12,075).
GOP blame election loss on Iran war
Republicans lost both chambers. In FOX 11 Los Angeles's post-election report, the question turns to why, with Vice President JD Vance identifying the Iran war as the main reason for the party's defeat.
President Donald Trump accepts part of that explanation, pointing to higher gasoline prices. But he draws no lesson about changing his foreign policy: "As far as that war is concerned, I would have done nothing different."
The distinction matters. Vance's statement looks toward winning voters back, putting ending the conflict and addressing living costs among his priorities. Trump defends the decision to go to war, saying Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
The report also offers broader readings of the result. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear calls it a referendum on the president and criticizes tariffs. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis describes Republican losses across much of the country as close to an "extinction-level event."
The Short drew about 289,000 views in its first 23 hours, far beyond the station's usual first-day audience for that format.
National Republican losses were not FOX 11's only election story drawing unusual attention. Its coverage of Nithya Raman's widening lead over Karen Bass also had a fast start, followed by Raman's victory statement and the station's report that Bass had conceded.

The numbers
The election report reached far beyond FOX 11's usual first-day audience for Shorts. Its comment section was also much busier than usual.
