Tom Brady and Candice Swanepoel dating report leaves confirmation open

E! News' fast-starting Short carries a more definite title than the report itself, which says neither star has confirmed a romance.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 269,436 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (16,646).

"NEW ROMANCE?" asks the opening graphic. That question mark matters: E! News' report about Tom Brady and Candice Swanepoel says representatives for both had not responded to its requests for comment.

The Short drew more than 100,000 views in seven hours, already several times the channel's usual full-day audience for the format. Its title presents the dating story as a statement, but the narration introduces it as reports of a relationship and ends by acknowledging that neither Brady nor Swanepoel has confirmed it.

That distinction is also part of the conversation below the video. Some viewers question whether the romance has been established at all; others are struck by how much time has passed since Brady and Gisele Bündchen's divorce. The comments don't settle the relationship question.

Celebrity relationships are drawing attention elsewhere on E! News, too. Its report on Sean Hannity and Ainsley Earhardt's wedding and a separate Short featuring Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian's co-parenting phone call both attracted unusually quick audiences.

The Brady report also revisits his own remarks from July, a less definite picture of his personal life than the headline suggests: "I don't have much time for a personal life or much time for myself."
