Pointe shoes broken on purpose: a ballet short tops a million in a day for earth with john
The comment section has one running reply, over and over: nobody's likes turned into ballerina shoes.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Ballerinas BREAK Their New Shoes?! 😳
"Ballerinas BREAK Their New Shoes?! 😳" went up on October 3. By the end of its first day it had passed a million views. That is unusual even for a channel built on short, curious questions, and three days later it is still the busiest thing John has posted.
The title sounds like sabotage, but in ballet it is routine. New pointe shoes come stiff, and dancers bend, crush and soften them before they can move properly in them. The comments, though, went somewhere else entirely. The short apparently promises that likes turn into shoes, and viewers have made a game of reporting back that theirs did not. Some got hearts, some got nothing, and one person wonders what they will get next. A few people simply want to know whose voice it is.
The ballet clip was one of four this week, alongside inflating vests, basketball without a net and a question about why farmers don't just pick their bananas. The vests started strong too, with about 600,000 views on day one. The banana short barely stirred. An older question keeps up, too: last week's short about corner flags that no longer break still draws views at nearly the ballet short's pace.
About a thousand new subscribers a day keep arriving. In the group of story and curiosity channels around John, Kyle Hates Hiking and Josh the Intern are running above their usual pace, while 5PM and FactAtlasHD are a good deal quieter than normal.
