"Mother Realizes Her Husband Just Buried Their Son Alive" is the newest documentary from Dr Insanity, and about 1.5 million people have watched it since yesterday. Like most of the channel's work, it is assembled from police body-camera footage, 911 recordings and interrogation tapes, joined together by a narrator.
The case begins in New Mexico in February 2026. An 11-month-old leaves home in a stroller with his father, on a walk to a Dollar General. The father returns without him. The mother calls 911 a day later, and the documentary keeps coming back to that gap. "Like, why do you wait 24 hours?" one deputy asks.
Most of what follows is seen through the deputies' own cameras. They break into the family's camper with a sledgehammer and detain the father, who gives investigators shifting, incoherent answers about who he is and where the boy went. Detective Gabriel Salazar of the San Juan County Sheriff's Office works through conflicting accounts. Searchers following footprints at night find the abandoned stroller with a smashed phone nearby. Later, along a dirt trail by an irrigation ditch, an officer finds the infant's body.
The title states as fact that the child was buried alive. The video's closing account is more careful: autopsy findings indicated he may have been. It also reports that the father was charged with child abuse resulting in death and that the proceedings were suspended pending a competency evaluation. There has been no conviction. The episode includes a paid debt-relief segment and a pitch for the channel's Patreon.
It is the latest of several New Mexico cases on the channel, after the hunt for the man who shot state police officer Justin Hare on Interstate 40 and the search for a missing man from Mountainair.
