"Diamonds... no la peace": DrDonut's clone saga picks up a meme

A Minecraft short on the DrDonut Clips channel became the clip of the weekend, and its comment section is mostly people saying "that's la peace" back to it.

diamonds... no la peace

"diamonds... no la peace" is a few seconds of Minecraft from DrDonut's streams, cut down into a Short and posted on DrDonut Clips. That channel belongs to DrDonut, but as its description explains, the clips are picked, edited and posted by other people. The tags place this one on DonutSMP, the server behind most of what turns up there.

The joke is in the title. Someone is about to say "diamonds" and swerves into "la peace" instead, a catchphrase that is already doing the rounds online. Viewers have picked it up and are playing it back in the comments, again and again, with the same pair of raised-hand emojis.

For regular viewers it also fits a running bit. Over the past week the channel's clips have leaned into the question of whether the DrDonut on screen is the real one or a clone, as we reported here. Several comments read the meme as fresh evidence. The real DrDonut, they joke, would never say la peace. Another line many viewers repeat is about someone casually blocking Purrfect into a hole.

The clip went past 675,000 views in 23 hours. A Short on this channel usually opens with around 60,000. It was one of several uploads on Sunday. "bro is losing his mind" also passed 200,000, while the rest stayed in the tens of thousands.
