A British television producer is behind the busiest new upload on Democracy Now! Ben De Pear joined the independent news hour to discuss Britain's Gaza Secrets Exposed, a new film for Dispatches, Channel 4's investigative strand, and the interview passed a quarter of a million views within its first day.

That pace sits well outside the routine. A new video here usually has a solid first day, and this one moved about eleven times faster. On its own, it came close to what the whole channel normally draws across everything it has posted.

The documentary is presented by the journalist Ramita Navai. According to the description, it works through British government records, some of them newly made public, to show how the U.K. responded to mounting evidence of alleged Israeli war crimes in Gaza while arms sales continued. De Pear calls what the team found "a doctored process."

He knows the Channel 4 newsroom well. He spent years as editor of Channel 4 News before turning to documentaries. The description notes that he also produced Gaza: Doctors Under Attack, the BAFTA-winning film that the BBC commissioned and then declined to broadcast. Channel 4 aired it instead.
