"Unfinished Projects by Chrome: Joe Burrow's Chess Set" is a short film about the quarterback designing a chess set of his own, and it lives on Google Chrome's official channel. Eight days after it went up, it has passed three and a half million views, and on its busiest day it ran at roughly ten times its own earlier pace.
That one day was more than double what the whole Chrome channel usually draws across everything it has ever posted. Only a handful of people have left comments.
Burrow, who won the Heisman Trophy at LSU in 2019 and took the Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl LVI, wanted what the description calls a "playable work of art" for his home. He built it around crystals and minerals he has been reading up on. The film follows him as he uses Chrome to turn sketches and renders into 3D designs for the board. It belongs to a series in which the browser works with people from art, sport and culture on projects that are still in progress.
