Unfinished Projects by Chrome: PinkPantheress’s Ballet Flats
PinkPantheress wanted to design her own ballet flats, and the short film about it has become the busiest thing on Google Chrome's channel. For its first week the video moved at a steady, unremarkable pace. Then it jumped, and in a single day it drew about twice what the whole channel, with everything it has ever posted, usually gets.
The film is part of Chrome's Unfinished Projects series, in which people from art, sport and culture use the browser to chase an idea. According to the description, she collected references online, compared patterns and materials, and looked for fabricators. The goal was a customizable pair with color blocking, changing patterns and swappable accessories, modeled on the early 2000s British shoes she loves.
That era is familiar territory for her. The British singer and producer built her sound on the UK garage and drum and bass of the same years. For all its three million views, the video has gathered fewer than four hundred likes.
