Musk's 'age of abundance' line runs seventeenfold on C-SPAN

A day after the channel posted SpaceX's Starship reaching orbit, the company's founder is the one drawing the crowd.

Most of the big news channels are in a soft patch. AccuWeather and Right Side Broadcasting Network are drawing only a fraction of their normal daily views, and 9 News Australia is a little under its usual pace. CBS Sunday Morning is the exception, running above its norm.

C-SPAN's newest clip is also heading the other way. Seven hours after it went up, "Musk: "The most likely outcome is an age of abundance"" had close to fifty thousand views. That pace points to a first day around seventeen times what a new C-SPAN upload usually gathers. People are talking as well as watching. The clip has one comment for roughly every two or three likes, which is a lively ratio for a public affairs channel.

The title is a single quote. It does not say where Elon Musk said it, or who he was speaking to. The idea is a familiar one from the man who runs SpaceX and Tesla, who has long argued that artificial intelligence and robots could make goods and services plentiful.

The timing adds a neat link. C-SPAN's recent run of fast starters has included President Trump's Canada trade remarks and his Iowa steel plant announcement. On Monday it posted Starship's first trip to orbit. A day later, the man behind the rocket has taken over the channel.
