The student opposite his microphone is afraid of bananas. Getting there takes almost the whole minute of "Can You Guess Her Biggest Fear?😧", which has drawn more than 700,000 views in seven hours, already well beyond his Shorts' usual full-day audience.

She gives him a fairly narrow path to follow: her fear involves food, but it isn't about an allergy. "I don't like the way it looks. I don't like the sound that other people's mouths make when they eat it," she explains.

When Martel finally asks whether it's bananas, her immediate confirmation leaves him asking why, even though she has just explained it.

The comments become a small guessing game of their own. Some viewers had settled on jelly or cheese; others volunteer their own unexpected fears, including mustard and popcorn. One also notices the missing ritual: Martel hasn't opened with his familiar question about whether the stranger has a name.

Names haven't disappeared from the channel. "Can You Guess Her Name?😅" is also drawing an unusually fast audience, while the earlier "Can You Guess Ruby's Biggest Fear?😨" has passed a million views. The fear questions are giving his stranger-interview format a different kind of reveal.
