Stevens’ chief of staff quits after GOP endorsement

"There's reports that more than half of your staff has quit, is that accurate?" Anderson Cooper asks Rep. Haley Stevens in CNN's interview clip.

Stevens praises her Washington team but does not directly confirm that figure. Instead, she describes an office in transition: "I'm winding down my office, it's all been packed up." She says staff members are free to express their views.

According to CNN, Stevens' chief of staff said in an earlier statement that many members of the team had resigned following her endorsement of Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers. Stevens, a Michigan Democrat, backed Rogers after losing her party's Senate nomination to Abdul El-Sayed.

The exchange adds Stevens' own response to the staffing fallout, rather than another outside assessment of her endorsement. She tells Cooper she is trying to be honest with constituents and says she has also received support from other Democrats.

CNN's clip drew about 1.2 million views since yesterday. Cooper also asks about praise from Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson. Stevens answers by pointing to her votes to impeach Trump twice.
