Why did a march in Portadown become the story of the week? Channel 4 News answered in two parts. The first video reported how thousands of protesters stopped an Orange Order parade on Garvaghy Road, a Troubles flashpoint in the 1990s, from reaching a Catholic street after a late-night ruling allowed it for the first time in nearly 30 years. A day later came the explainer, which names First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald among the crowd. The first has the bigger total, past a third of a million views, but the explainer is now the faster of the two.
The rest of the fifteen uploads leaned toward the wallet. Diesel passing £2 a litre, a record the description ties to the Iran war, and a warning from an energy boss about low gas stores both drew brisk first days. There was also the RAF Fairford investigation and a short of two people rescued from a burning Kyiv building after a drone strike.
Among news broadcasters of similar size, Associated Press and FRANCE 24 English are running well above their usual pace, while Guardian News is a little quieter. Channel 4 News held steady on subscribers across the week.
