"Having fun is a serious offence": Bub Games goes back to GTA RP's rulebook

The follow-up to his biggest recent upload, "having fun is illegal in gta rp...", passed 400,000 views within two days of going up.

Why this story? The whole channel is running at 420,149 views a day, 5.1 times a normal day (81,961).

Bub Games has returned to the joke that works best for him: roleplay servers whose players take their rules far more seriously than he does. "having fun is a serious offence in gta rp..." went up on October 6, and the description sums it up in five words: "some more gta 5 rp trolling."

The title is a deliberate echo. In late August he posted "having fun is illegal in gta rp...", which is now close to 1.8 million views and well ahead of everything else he has made since. The new one is a sequel in all but name, and it is moving quickly. In two days it has collected more views than the September upload about "power tripping roleplayers" managed in three weeks.

The whole channel feels it. Bub Games pulled in about five times its usual daily views, while the shooter and battle-royale channels closest to it in size, Blooprint's Bunker and Rodey among them, are running at or below their own normal pace.

The channel's about line is four words long, "i make gaming videos", but the tags tell a longer story. Every new GTA upload still lists Garry's Mod, DarkRP, HL2RP and Family Guy roleplay, the Gmod worlds where this kind of server trolling made his name. The setting has changed to Los Santos. The target is still the same: the player who believes the rules are sacred.
