Cooler meals and trackside blood tests on Bryan Johnson's travels

His ten-day road vlog visits Michael Levin in Boston and Shopify founder Tobi at Petit Le Mans.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Bryan Johnson packs his meals in coolers, fits in sprints and brings hearing protection to the racetrack. Traveling may disrupt his routine, but his most-watched new upload makes room for something besides maintaining it: a rodeo, racing and a little flexibility.

"Maintaining health during 10 days on the road" has reached roughly 673,000 views. The compact vlog follows him from Washington, where he urges politicians to prioritize sleep, to Boston for a meeting with biology researcher Michael Levin and a tour of Ginkgo Bioworks' automated experiments.

Atlanta brings a different sort of laboratory. His friend Tobi, Shopify's founder, is racing at Petit Le Mans, and Johnson's team collects blood before and after the stint to examine physical stress. UV umbrellas and sunglasses accompany the hearing protection. Johnson keeps strength training and cardio on the itinerary, too, before conceding that he needs to "live a little."

That balance is what several viewers pick up on: taking familiar meals along, adapting a protocol to travel and allowing room for fun rather than abandoning the routine altogether.

Four uploads filled the week, with "how i fixed my posture" and "what to wear in the sauna" returning to familiar subjects. The newer "trick or treat" is currently adding views fastest, while October's "The Longevity Effects Of Psilocybin," documenting his medically supervised experiment, also remains active.

Subscribers held steady, while the channel added about 3.3 million views over the week. Daily viewing is above its usual level. Among nearby health channels, Jason Fung and Dr. John Campbell are also seeing above-usual daily viewing; Dr. Tracey Marks is a little below her usual pace. For Johnson, the week's biggest new draw was the practical question of taking his carefully organized life out of the house.

What viewers say

  • I love how you're now adapting your protocol to a “normal” live, plus a fun goal like dunking. Makes your journey a lot more relatable. Kudos Bryan!
  • It’s awesome that you are trying to prove that having fun and “living” does not have to mean sacrificing your health!

  • Real spill.

When I travel, I try to stay as hydrated as I can, eat as healthy as I can and not deviate from my normal sleep routine too much. Sure, I'll have a non-healthy meal as its vacation, but there's an easy balance to be had between having fun while traveling and taking care of yourself.
