J.J. McCarthy in a Giants No. 18, and the comments do the math
A short SNY clip of the quarterback in his new jersey drew about twenty times a usual first day, far ahead of a Mike Tomlin Minecraft tour and a Murakami interview posted around it.
Bleacher ReportStory of Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 331,345 views a day, 22 times a normal first day on this channel (15,239).
J.J. McCarthy ready for a new start in the No. 18 😤
"J.J. McCarthy ready for a new start in the No. 18" is barely more than a look at a quarterback in a new uniform. Bleacher Report picked up the footage from SNY, the New York sports network, and the description says it plainly: McCarthy, in his new No. 18 jersey for the New York Giants.
It found a crowd fast. Ten hours after it went up, the clip had passed 200,000 views, a pace of roughly twenty times what a new upload here usually gathers in a full day. The channel's other clips from the same stretch stayed far smaller. Mike Tomlin showing off the Minecraft city he has spent twelve years building and Munetaka Murakami's latest postgame interview drew a few thousand and around 22,000 views.
The number itself is the joke in the comments. McCarthy wore No. 9 at Michigan and after the Minnesota Vikings drafted him tenth overall in 2024. The most liked comment quotes a line about nine times two, and plenty of others riff on it as a second take, doubled. The other running thread belongs to Jameis Winston. Several viewers say he wanders into the shot unannounced, and they find that funnier than anything else in the clip.
Under the jokes, a few viewers say it still looks strange to see McCarthy in Giants blue at all.
