All Nippon Airways is checking whether customer information leaked after receiving an unauthorized-access notification from Amadeus, the passenger-service technology provider also used by Japan Airlines.
Japan's All-Nippon News Network (ANNnewsCH), operated by TV Asahi's news department, reports that JAL found signs that outsiders had viewed names and reservation details belonging to about 92,000 customers. Among them, roughly 2,000 may also have had passport numbers, nationalities and contact information exposed.
JAL says credit card numbers and passwords were not leaked. ANA has not confirmed a leak of its own customers' information, saying it is still establishing the details.
Amadeus is a Spanish technology company serving the international travel industry. JAL contracts it to provide systems used for reservations and boarding procedures, placing the reported unauthorized access at a shared supplier rather than solely within an airline's own systems.
The report also covers a separate disclosure from travel booking site Skyticket. Its operator, Adventure, says more than 32,000 bank account records leaked, and that some credit card information associated with approximately 936,000 records may also have been exposed. Security codes were not included, according to the company.
The two disclosures concern different kinds of information: JAL's statement excludes credit card numbers, while Skyticket's warning specifically includes possible exposure of card information.
Japan's largest airline, also known as ANA. Based in Tokyo, it flies domestic and international routes.
