Emma Thompson, a children's book and a very bad idea for Homer

Fourteen new clips went up on Fox's animation channel, but an eight-day-old Family Guy short about exact change at the grocery store is still the one carrying the views.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Among the TV network channels of its size, AniDom landed right in the middle this week: fourth by subscribers, fifth by views gained, with The Big Bang Theory and BBC Archive having the much bigger weeks. Its own pace sat almost exactly where it usually does.

The freshest story is Emma Thompson's. In the new Simpsons clips she voices a famous children's book author whom Homer agrees to drive to a signing, which goes about as well as anything Homer agrees to. He tosses his car keys to a stranger, then learns the author has a sinister plan: she wants to kill off her own main character. A day-old clip titled "YOU CAN'T READ THIS TO CHILDREN!" is already moving faster than anything else the channel posted all week.

The rest of the new Simpsons material puts Marge in charge of the PTA just as Springfield Elementary faces closure, blamed on low test scores and, per the description, an owl infestation. Viewers are counting how many times that school has nearly gone under, and several remember the PTA disbanding back in season 6.

Grimsburg filled the middle of the week with a "zaddy virus" outbreak, Jon Hamm's detective Marvin Flute apparently immune to it.

The heavy lifting, though, belongs to Family Guy. Lois winning a day where she must say yes to (almost) everything, after the thrill of paying with exact change, is closing in on 700,000 views in eight days, far ahead of anything new.
