The Ice Bear mod turns on al1's Goofy Gang, and keeps drawing a crowd
A scripted horror short about a polar bear mod that was not as friendly as it looked has passed 1.4 million views in under three weeks.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
We Played THE ICE BEAR MOD
No new uploads. The al1 channel took the week off, and its horror shorts kept playing without it.
The one doing the most work is "We Played THE ICE BEAR MOD," posted 19 days ago. The setup, per the description: al1 and friends try out a new polar bear mod, then realize it is not as friendly as they thought. Headphones are recommended, and the description is upfront that it is a scripted horror short film, with the bear added through editing and sound. The crew tagged along includes tinymacdude, CheapPickle, Swayle and PuffsGaming81. It is past 1.4 million views and still drawing about twice the daily pull of anything else on the channel.
Behind it sit two older entries in the same "won't let you leave" vein. "VERITY Won't Let Me Leave," more than two months old and the biggest of the three at over 2.4 million views, puts a supposedly friendly character in al1's world, voiced by JustWhispy and credited to its original creator, ThatMob. "Something is Obsessed With You" sends the Goofy Gang up against a mod that fixates on anyone who joins.
Without a fresh video, daily views are running noticeably under the channel's usual level. That is common company among the Minecraft creators nearest its size: xisumavoid, Knarfy and CaylusCraft are all well below their norms, while Lynix is running a little ahead and fWhip is right on pace. For a channel whose about page simply says "hello welcome to the yellow," a polar bear is a fine thing to leave in charge.
