The timing is unforgiving. A mail carrier slips on an icy walkway, and the security system promptly announces: "Camera recording."

That deadpan interruption is one of the details viewers keep mentioning beneath AFV Shorts' security-camera compilation. Elsewhere, a man slipping on ice offers a different response to being caught on camera: "Do not look at the cameras."

The reel has drawn nearly 480,000 views in nine hours, already far beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for a Short. Its monthly fails compilation is also attracting an unusually large early audience.

After AFV Shorts' recent run of masked pranksters and jump scares, these clips need no one hiding around a corner. A porch chair collapses beneath a woman leaning back. A leashed dog pulls another woman downhill into shrubbery, while a goose sends a pedestrian into the bushes in a separate encounter.

The cameras simply stay put through it all. For viewers discussing the automated announcement and the instruction not to look at the cameras, being recorded has become a joke of its own.
