Rebecca Bennett will defeat Republican incumbent Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, ABC News projects, adding a concrete seat flip to the network's broader call that Democrats will reclaim the House.

ABC published the Bennett projection in a separate results clip alongside its election-night livestream, "LIVE: Midterm Election Results 2026 | ABC News". The live coverage drew about 1.8 million views since yesterday, making it the network's most-watched new upload over that period.

The House projection matters beyond individual districts: a Democratic majority would put an opposition-controlled chamber in the path of President Donald Trump's legislative agenda during the second half of his term. Federal legislation generally needs approval from both the House and Senate before reaching the president.

ABC's separate overnight updates also projected Annie Andrews would flip South Carolina's Senate seat for Democrats. That is a call on an individual contest, not a projection of overall Senate control.
