ZacSpeaksGiant gives the treasure chest a musical cue
An unexpected performance check supplies the joke in the biggest of three new tabletop-comedy uploads.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
How to genuinely mess with your players - World Heritage Posts
Checking a chest for traps ought to be routine. ZacSpeaksGiant's dungeon master asks for a performance check instead, and suddenly the inspection involves whistling. Then the chest hums along.
That small betrayal of ordinary furniture is the payoff in "How to genuinely mess with your players - World Heritage Posts", which has passed five million views. The sketch dramatises a Tumblr exchange about asking tabletop players for ability checks that don't seem to fit their actions. Zac plays both sides, letting the player's perfectly reasonable confusion do much of the work.
Viewers have been inventing extensions: a pet mimic singing with a party of bards, suspicious doors requiring animal handling, and increasingly alarming things waking up around the adventurers. Others recognise a possible Discworld connection in the idea of sentient luggage. The joke has effectively become another tabletop prompt.
The other new uploads were "Fairy Godfather - World Heritage Posts" and "Body Swapped Advernturing Party - World Heritage Party". The body-swap entry is currently gathering views fastest, while the earlier "Incredible Magic System - World Heritage Posts" also remains among the channel's busiest videos.
Across the week, ZacSpeaksGiant added roughly 26 million views, the largest weekly gain among the nearby commentary channels here. Subscribers held steady despite that substantial viewing, with daily views now around twice their usual level. Arthur Frederick is also drawing above-usual daily viewing, while BroskiReport and Teens REACT have quieter daily audiences than normal. For ZacSpeaksGiant, the week's most memorable invitation is rather more specific: roll performance before touching the treasure.
