Israel's news outlet ynet published the footage from the funeral of Staff Sgt. Ron Yonatan Roitman, a 23-year-old soldier in the military's Search and Rescue Brigade. According to its report, hundreds attended his burial in Ashkelon after he was killed in a shooting attack near Hebron, in the West Bank.
The soldiers shown belong to the Home Front Command, the branch of Israel's military responsible for civil protection. A portrait of Roitman appears as an inset while the camera remains on the mourners.
The clip contains no intelligible direct speech, but its accompanying description recounts his family's farewells. His father delivered a eulogy in Russian expressing his love for his son. His sister recalled trying to call him and getting no answer. His partner, Ella, described how her best friend had become her partner.
