Romania strike first through Marius Simionescu, but Tonga need little time to answer. A crossfield kick and an inside pass send Veikoso Poloniati over, turning the hosts' early pressure into the opening exchange of a match that produces a dozen tries.

Tonga win 43-38 in Bucharest, and World Rugby's full broadcast has drawn about 63,000 views in its first ten hours. That is already far beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for long broadcasts. The extended highlights are also attracting substantially more views than the channel's regular-length uploads usually receive on their opening day.

The broadcast begins with Sonatane Takulua leading Tonga's Sipi Tau, Romania standing opposite to accept the challenge. Once play starts, the hosts pin Tonga back before Simionescu finds the opening down the right wing. Poloniati supplies the response, then Taniela Filimone breaks through the defence to put Tonga ahead.

The shorter highlights' description supplies another reason this result matters for the visitors: it is Tonga's first win in Bucharest since 2017.
