Viva La Dirt League's nightmare boss draws a dream-boss question
The office-horror Short has passed a million views, with viewers imagining better bosses, worse predecessors and surprisingly good benefits.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,113,547 views a day, 18 times a normal first day on this channel (61,398).
What company allows this?!
If this is the nightmare boss, what would the dream boss look like? That is the question attracting thousands of likes beneath Viva La Dirt League's "What company allows this?!", as viewers build their own jokes around its supernatural workplace.
The Short drew roughly 1.1 million views in its first day, about eighteen times the channel's usual start for the format. Its comment section was also much busier than usual, with viewers comparing the creature to their own managers, imagining a previous boss somehow being worse, and finding room for a dental-plan joke.
This is a staged comedy sketch with a very literal interpretation of a familiar complaint. Rowan warns a new employee that her boss is an actual nightmare. She hears ordinary office grumbling. Then a cloaked wraith floats in, dims the lights and sucks the soul out of an employee.
For a group known for turning video-game logic into live-action comedy, the monster has a recognizable workplace priority: getting the reports finished.
Some viewers had expected a different creature altogether, a sinister horse, drawing on the fantasy meaning of "nightmare." Others are busy proposing the welcome-to-the-team line the wraith never delivers.
