Viva La Dirt League's TechTown rebrand borrows Nike's swoosh
Rowan's branding consultant brings suspiciously familiar designs, while viewers rally around Britt, who made the store's existing logo.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 831,608 views a day, 14 times a normal first day on this channel (61,398).
The last one was actually fire
Rich begins his branding presentation by reading a definition straight from his phone. His first big idea for TechTown turns out to be something Alan recognizes immediately: Nike's swoosh, complete with its slogan.
Viva La Dirt League's retail sketch, "The last one was actually fire", drew an estimated 830,000 views in its first day, far beyond the group's usual Shorts start. The comments arrived more than five times faster than usual, too, with much of the conversation centering on the employee whose work this expensive-looking exercise is supposed to replace.
That would be Britt. She points out that she designed TechTown's existing logo, only for Rich to dismiss it. Rowan, meanwhile, is thoroughly sold on his consultant's expertise.
The next pitch borrows McDonald's golden arches. Alan has a practical question: "Where is the 'M' in TechTown?" Rowan's enthusiasm survives that objection, along with further designs that look remarkably like Subway, Red Bull and Apple.
It's a staged workplace comedy built around a very specific frustration: the outsider gets an attentive audience while the staff who know the business get brushed aside. Here, Alan keeps identifying the obvious, and Rowan keeps treating him as the problem.
Viewers are extending the joke into Britt's story, imagining this as the beginning of her villain arc and borrowing the language of games to suggest she'll remember the slight. Others bring their own experiences of consultants and corporate rebrands to the conversation. For all Rich's borrowed logos, it's Britt's stake in the original that gives the comments something to hold onto.

The numbers
The Short's first-day views were far above Viva La Dirt League's usual start, and its comment section was unusually busy as well.
