The new employee thinks she understands. Rowan says the boss is a nightmare, and she has stories about bad employers of her own. What she hasn't grasped is that this office means it literally.

In Viva La Dirt League's staged comedy sketch "When your boss is literally a nightmare," black smoke rolls down the hallway before a hooded creature enters. Rowan scrambles back to his desk and gives the new hire a survival instruction: "No matter what happens, do not look away from your screen. Do you understand?"

The Short reached roughly 300,000 views in eight hours, putting its estimated first-day pace at almost ten times the channel's usual start for Shorts. Its comment section has already drawn several times the channel's usual full-day response, too.

The joke isn't just that management consumes employees' souls. It's that supernatural terror comes attached to entirely ordinary office demands. Looming over the new hire, the creature orders: "Make sure the reports are done by midday... or you'll have to work... the weekend."

Viewers are extending that workplace logic in the comments, imagining what HR must be like and suggesting that a properly made coffee might improve matters. Back at their desks, Rowan and his coworker treat the encounter as another routine complaint about management.
