Trevor Wallace guesses Reno, checks his phone and then offers Carson City. His explanation for having the phone out? "I'm texting my mom."

The Nevada-capital question is part of a classroom trivia challenge pitting Wallace and his Stiff Socks co-host, Michael Blaustein, against fifth grader Alana. A persistent caption supplies the adults' credentials: "college educated btw". It is not much of a safety net.

Alana identifies a hippo as a herbivore and supplies the term omnivore when asked about animals that eat both plants and meat. Wallace gets his own moment of academic pride after answering a river question: "I went to college."

That contrast between grown-up confidence and elementary-school questions has brought the Short a start roughly nineteen times Wallace's usual first day. The comment section is much busier than usual too, with viewers repeatedly picking up on his use of "geometrically" and the exchange about community college.

Wallace's most watched regular upload, "Moms going through your room in high school", turns school-age life into a character sketch. Here, he puts himself back at the desk, with his phone offering rather more help than his college credentials.
