Kevin Ryan's twenty trends on a whiteboard reach Tim Ferriss' channel

The founder of MongoDB, Business Insider and Gilt sat down for an hour and a quarter, and a six-minute cut of his view of tech's future followed five days later.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A usual day on Tim Ferriss' channel brings in something like 42,000 views. Right now it is running at around 72,000, and most of that lift is not coming from anything new.

The week's main upload is a long conversation with Kevin Ryan, the New York investor the description calls the "Godfather of NYC tech." He helped grow DoubleClick from a 20-person startup into a public company, then co-founded MongoDB, Business Insider, Gilt Groupe and Zola, and now runs AlleyCorp. The chapters read like a career in fast-forward: twenty trends sketched on a whiteboard ten years out, Gilt's rise and its "falling knife," recruiting Henry Blodget in thirty minutes, and a YouTube that Ryan, by his own account, didn't start. There are lighter turns too, from ping pong and Ibiza dance floors to a robot massage and an AI agent that switched to Spanish.

Five days later came a six-minute version, "Legendary Investor Outlines Tech's Future in 6 Minutes," and the short form is moving faster than the full episode did. The steadiest worker on the channel is older still: "The Book I Keep Coming Back to Again and Again," five weeks old, has passed 200,000 views and keeps adding thousands a day. Which book it is, the title keeps to itself.

Among the podcast and interview channels around him, Nightcap is having the big stretch, running at more than twice its usual pace, and Rich Roll is busy too, while The Diary Of A CEO Clips is quieter than normal. Ferriss sits third by subscribers in that group, with about 1.8 million.
