Bob Chapek, Blu-ray and Jack Sparrow: a Disney week for Patrick Bet-David

The former Disney chief's two-hour sit-down passed 200,000 views on its first day, and four short cuts from it followed the same day.

"Ex-Disney CEO BREAKS SILENCE on Bob Iger & The Truth About Disney | PBD Podcast #864" is the long Tuesday interview on Patrick Bet-David's show, and the guest is Bob Chapek, the man who ran Disney between Bob Iger's two spells in charge. Two days on, it is close to a quarter of a million views and still the busiest thing on the channel by a wide margin.

The chapters read like a company history told from the inside: the Disney Vault strategy, his bet on Blu-ray, Steve Jobs and the digital shift, the fallout with Iger, the culture-war fights and, at the very end, Johnny Depp. The show cut that last part into its own short, in which Chapek first declines to comment on a Captain Jack Sparrow return and then explains that a character that famous needs the right story. Another clip turns to the old Blu-ray versus HD DVD format war and Warner's Warren Lieberfarb, the executive often called the father of the DVD.

The Home Team kept its live days going around the interview, with two Iran segments, one on Marco Rubio's view of how Tehran reads the midterms. The newer of the two is the second-busiest video on the channel right now. In all, fifteen videos went up.

The channel is drawing well above its usual daily views, nearly three times its normal pace. Among the interview shows around it, Nightcap and Shawn Ryan Clips are having big stretches too, while The Diary Of A CEO Clips runs quieter than usual. For a show built on Bet-David's own business talk, a former Disney boss walking through his succession story was always going to find a crowd.
