Video taking off 12x its usual first day

Toni and Ryan's Drag Race PSA passes their barista rant within a day

Under the short, the comments keep circling two Drag Race staples, sewing and Snatch Game, and a lot of people say they shout the same thing at the TV every season.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 483,845 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (40,393).

Toni Lodge and Ryan Jon have some advice for anyone heading to the Werk Room, and it has traveled further than anything else they posted around it. "PSA for any queens going on RuPaul's Drag Race 💅" passed 420,000 views eighteen hours after it went up. That is about twelve times what a new Toni and Ryan upload usually gathers in its whole first day.

It went up on September 30, the same day as the barista short that took off first, as we reported here. The queens have already moved past the coffee.

The description names only the podcast, so the comments show where the conversation went. Two of the show's oldest fixtures come up again and again: the design challenges, where contestants have to make their own looks, and Snatch Game, the celebrity-impersonation round. Viewers say it is the same complaint they yell at the screen every season. One brings up Bob the Drag Queen's reminder that Snatch Game comes around every year, and another suggests an improv class.

After that, the thread turns into a list of grievances about reality competitions in general. People bring up survival-show contestants who cannot start a fire, Hell's Kitchen cooks defeated by risotto, Top Chef's Restaurant Wars arriving like a surprise each year, and Great British Sewing Bee hopefuls who have never touched an overlocker. One viewer compares it to signing up for Olympic breaking without knowing how to break dance.

Toni and Ryan describe themselves as a hot, fun garbage podcast, with a new episode every weekday. The full shows tend to be quieter than the short cuts taken from them. Even with two shorts running hot, the channel as a whole is drawing fewer daily views than it usually does, which leaves much of the work to one Drag Race rant. One viewer jokes that two corners of their feed have just collided, which is a fair description of what happens when an Australian comedy podcast takes on Mama Ru's show.
