"We're not doing good right now in the early vote," Don Huffines tells a Lubbock rally. The Texas Republican's warning opens a Damage Report segment that gives John Iadarola plenty to examine, but not a settled verdict on the midterms.
Iadarola moves from the rally footage to reporting from Time and the University of Florida's Election Lab showing registered Democrats leading the early-voting totals. Texas gets particular attention through a post from Republican Bo French comparing turnout in Travis County with Midland and other West Texas counties.
There is an important distinction beneath the video's exuberant title, "Democrats Get STUNNING News As Early Voting Data Revealed": turnout is not the same thing as a vote count for either party. Iadarola himself notes that lots of people voting does not necessarily mean bad news for Republicans.
Reed offers a more bullish reading. She attributes Democratic enthusiasm to frustration and predicts record turnout in Georgia. Those are her assessment and forecast, not results already in hand.
The segment drew roughly 184,000 views in six hours, already more than triple the channel's usual full first day. A separate discussion of South Carolina's Senate polling was also making an unusually fast start.
Later, Iadarola broadens the picture with Sabato's Crystal Ball's shifts toward Democrats in House and Senate contests. He closes the electoral discussion by arguing that a narrow Democratic Senate majority would leave John Fetterman with more influence than he would like.
