- 10:30He argues that V8 manual and R-Tronic examples have held their value well.
- 11:08Tom shows another Le Mans Edition with factory five-piece fitted luggage.
- 17:00Wallace warns buyers about MagRide suspension leaks and neglected low-priced examples.
- 20:29He says another R8 V8 could join the channel, returning to the model that was his first supercar.
Paul Wallace lifts off the accelerator between changes, giving the Audi R8's much-debated R-Tronic gearbox a chance to make its case. The single-clutch transmission is central to SOL - Supercars of London's only new upload this week, and Wallace comes away arguing that learning its rhythm is part of the pleasure.
In "Why is NOBODY Talking about THIS £50,000 Audi R8?", he drives a V8 Le Mans Edition with George alongside him. "You've just got to learn it, like anything," George says. A showroom visit adds another tempting detail: Tom at AT Performance Cars has a second example with factory fitted luggage.
The investment question hangs over the review, but Wallace gives running costs their due too, warning about leaking MagRide suspension and neglected cheap examples. Viewers pick up the gearbox debate: some favour the gated manual's analogue experience, while R-Tronic owners describe why they prefer it. One comment questions whether car channels have become too interested in investment and not interested enough in enjoyment.
The upload has reached about 15,000 views. The earlier Rolls-Royce Spectre video, pairing an extravagant electric car with shopping for his wife's much cheaper replacement, is currently drawing the most daily views; the older Porsche GT3 discussion remains active too.
SOL added about 10,000 subscribers over the week, although daily viewing is running at less than half its usual level. Nearby in motoring, OFFICIALLY GASSED - OG is enjoying above-usual daily viewing, while Auto Focus is having a slower spell.
For Wallace, the R8 discussion ends somewhere more personal than resale values: an R8 V8 was his first supercar, and he says bringing another one onto the channel is not out of the question.
