Sunn m'Cheaux rejects the idea of a "woke" comeback

Five new uploads move from post-election language to Arabic vocabulary, names and the meaning of a broken heart.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Standing among trees, Sunn m'Cheaux opens with "Woke is back!" But the apparent announcement quickly becomes an objection: he doesn't accept that the word ever went away.

His most-watched new upload challenges talk of a post-midterm "woke 3.0." "Woke is a Black term," he says, grounding it in African American survival rather than either party's messaging. He questions both Republicans' negative redefinition and white liberals' attempts to reclaim it. The argument becomes personal when he describes losing contracts over DEI implications and refusing to remove identity politics from his work.

That commentary drew roughly 37,000 views, the largest audience among his five uploads. Language supplied several other routes into the week: a Word of the Day installment on Alhamdulillah, an exploration of the third level of power, and "What's a Broken Heart?"

The newer "Is Mispronouncing an "Ethnic" Name Racist? " now has the strongest daily momentum, followed by the Alhamdulillah lesson and the woke commentary. It's a familiar territory for a channel whose older uploads include "White Grammar vs Black Tone" and a lesson on pronouncing T as D.

Subscribers held steady, while daily viewing is running below its usual level. Among nearby education channels, English with Steve Ford had a particularly substantial viewing week. Sunn m'Cheaux's week was smaller, with the freshest momentum attached to a question that makes language personal: what happens when someone gets your name wrong?
