Our Captain: Sir Patrick Stewart #PatrickStewart #StarTrekTNG
Jean-Luc Picard describes time not as a predator, but as a companion on the journey. Those words frame the official Star Trek channel's memorial to Sir Patrick Stewart, which moves between the Enterprise captain's younger years and his later farewell to his crew.
The Short drew an estimated 75,000 views in its first day, more than twelve times the channel's usual start for the format. Its comment section was also far busier than usual, with viewers recalling Stewart's Picard as a role model and describing what his example meant in their own lives.
The compilation makes room for more than the captain's chair. Picard shares drinks with friends, embraces Dr. Beverly Crusher and plays his Ressikan flute. Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn and LeVar Burton appear briefly in the archival scenes, placing Stewart among the familiar company of his screen crew.
"It's been an honor serving with you all," Stewart says as Picard near the end. The video then closes with a memorial card bearing the actor's name and the years of his life.
