Coe and Cram take on Cambridge's clock on BBC Archive

The 1988 Great Court Run joins Patrick Stewart's Wogan interview and a furniture-making lesson in an eleven-upload week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Sebastian Coe and Steve Cram had until the final chime of noon to complete a circuit of Trinity College, Cambridge. Both were declared winners live on television. As BBC Archive's description explains, a later video review told a different story.

That Going Live! excerpt has become the channel's busiest upload by daily views, gathering momentum after a comparatively modest first day. The Chariots of Fire-inspired challenge has passed 115,000 views, a reminder that an archive's sporting suspense needn't depend on a result being new.

Patrick Stewart's 1988 appearance on Wogan drew the largest audience among the week's new uploads, reaching about 572,000 views. Posted following his death, the interview finds Stewart explaining his initial unease about joining Star Trek and the letters from sceptical viewers who came round to The Next Generation. A second upload draws on the same conversation. Under the most-watched clip, viewers discuss his distinctive speaking voice and memories of watching the series growing up.

Elsewhere, the eleven-upload week found room for Vincent Price cooking trout in a dishwasher and David Day and Albert Jackson making tables. Their furniture programme moves from glass and metal to mahogany, then gives an old sewing machine a new job as a garden table.

BBC Archive added subscribers over the week, while daily viewing is a little below its usual level. Its weekly views gain was among the larger ones in this nearby television group, with The Big Bang Theory particularly busy. Within BBC Archive's own selection, another lively arrival is The Clothes Show's visit to comedians' wardrobes: Tony Hawks investigates what Vic Reeves, Jack Dee and their fellow performers choose to wear on stage.
